Extra-Large Mealworms

These are the big ones! Our extra-large live mealworms (Tenebrio molitor) average between 25mm – 32mm (1" – 1¼"): a size that makes a genuine difference when feeding larger, more demanding animals. Bigger worms mean more protein, fat, and moisture per worm, making them an ideal nutritional powerhouse for adult bearded dragons, blue-tongued skinks, large geckos, monitor lizards, and other sizable reptiles that need substantial, satisfying meals. They're equally excellent for large wild birds like robins, starlings, and magpies, as well as backyard chickens that benefit from the extra caloric density.

Our worms are raised on fresh produce grown in our own gardens, like pumpkins, zucchini, carrots, and potatoes. And they are never treated with hormones or chemicals. What your animals eat matters, so we make sure our mealworms eat well, too.

Because of their impressive size, extra-large mealworms may experience slightly higher pupation rates during shipping. This is completely natural and a sign of healthy, mature worms.

Every order is collected fresh right before packaging, so you always receive active, lively worms. We also ensure they're thoroughly hydrated before shipping, so they arrive healthy.

Basic Mealworm Care Instructions:
Store your mealworms in a breathable container in the refrigerator at 3-7°C (37–45°F) to slow their metabolism and extend their active lifespan. Use our Optimal Worm Food & Bedding or wheat bran for substrate. Once a week, add a thin slice of carrot, potato or apple for hydration. Remove any uneaten produce after 3 hours to prevent mould.
